Downloading Your Accounts and Filing Documents from TinyTax
Downloading Your Filing Documents
After completing a filing, your generated documents are available to download from the Submission Preview page. To access them:
- Log in to TinyTax and click View on your completed filing from the dashboard
- Scroll down to the Documents section on the preview page
- Download any of the following:
| Document | Available formats |
|---|---|
| Full Accounts | iXBRL (HTML) and PDF |
| Filleted Accounts | iXBRL (HTML) and PDF |
| Tax Computation | iXBRL (HTML) and PDF |
| CT600 | PDF only |
What the CT600 Is Available As
The CT600 is only available as a PDF download. This is because the CT600 is submitted to HMRC as an XML file (not iXBRL), and there is no HTML preview for it. The PDF is the authoritative way to review your return figures.
See How Your CT600 Is Submitted to HMRC for a full explanation of the difference between XML and iXBRL.
Using Your Accounts for Self Assessment (SA100)
If you are a director and need to complete a Self Assessment (SA100) personal tax return, you will need figures from your company accounts — such as your salary, dividends, and the company profit. However:
- TinyTax handles CT600 and Companies House accounts only. It does not prepare or file SA100 (personal Self Assessment).
- SA software does not import iXBRL company accounts directly. The iXBRL file is for regulatory submission, not for importing into SA tools.
- You use the accounts as a reference document. Open the PDF or iXBRL accounts and find the relevant figures (profit, directors remuneration, dividends declared), then enter those manually into your SA software or the HMRC Self Assessment online service.
Where to file SA100
- HMRC Self Assessment online service — file directly at gov.uk/self-assessment-tax-returns
- SA software — tools like TaxCalc, Sage, or IRIS allow you to enter figures and submit SA100 returns
Using Accounts With Other CT600 Software
If you are using another piece of tax software and need the iXBRL accounts file from TinyTax, download the iXBRL (HTML) version. Most CT600 software can accept an external iXBRL accounts file rather than generating its own — check your software's documentation for how to attach an externally prepared iXBRL accounts file.
Common Questions
Can I download the iXBRL file that was actually submitted to HMRC?
Yes. The iXBRL (HTML) file available to download from the preview page is the same document that was submitted to HMRC and Companies House. The file content is identical to what was sent electronically.
I need to use the accounts in TaxCalc / IRIS for Self Assessment — which file do I need?
Download the iXBRL (HTML) version of the Full Accounts. Most SA and CT software that accepts external accounts files expects the iXBRL format rather than PDF.
