Filing CT600 and Companies House Accounts at the Same Time

TinyTax can file your CT600 (corporation tax return) to HMRC and your statutory accounts to Companies House in a single session. This guide explains how the CT600 and Accounts option works and what to expect at each step.

How the Combined Filing Works

When you select CT600 and Accounts, TinyTax uses the same financial figures — your profit and loss account and balance sheet — to produce both documents automatically:

  • CT600 with iXBRL accounts → submitted to HMRC
  • Statutory accounts (micro-entity or small company) → submitted to Companies House
There is no separate accounts section to fill in. The P&L and balance sheet fields you complete in the form are the data source for both filings.

Step-by-Step: Filing Both at Once

  1. Go to https://tinytax.co.uk and search for your company number
  2. When your company appears, click the Both button (the green tick icon labelled "Both")
  3. Complete the filing form — enter your Profit and Loss figures (turnover, expenses) and Balance Sheet (assets, liabilities)
  4. Fill in the Accounts Information section (director name, accounts approval date, average employees)
  5. Click View Draft Submission to generate a preview
  6. On the preview page, you will see two separate submit buttons:
- Submit Corporation Tax — sends your CT600 to HMRC - Submit Accounts — sends your accounts to Companies House
  1. Click both buttons to complete both filings
You can submit the CT600 and Accounts in either order and at different times if needed. They are independent on the preview page — submitting one does not automatically submit the other.

If the "Both" Button Is Not Showing

Accounts filing is only available for standard limited companies. Some company types are restricted:

Company typeCT600Accounts
Standard limited company (Ltd, PLC)
LLP✓ only
Community Interest Company (CIC)
Registered society
Manual entry (not registered at Companies House)
If only Corporation Tax appears when you search for your company, TinyTax has detected your company as one of the restricted types above and accounts filing is not available.

Is There a Separate Section for Accounts?

No. The accounts are generated automatically from your P&L and balance sheet data. There is no separate accounts section to complete. The same figures you enter for your CT600 produce the statutory accounts document that goes to Companies House.

Common Questions

I selected "Both" but the preview only shows a CT600 — where are the accounts?

Both documents are generated during the preview step. On the preview page you will find the accounts document alongside the CT600 preview. Look for the Submit Accounts button to file with Companies House.

Can I submit the CT600 now and come back for the accounts later?

Yes. Both submissions are independent on the preview page. You can submit the CT600 first and return later to submit the accounts — your draft is saved.

The accounts option appeared but has disappeared

If you have already filed accounts for the current period, TinyTax disables the accounts submission for that period to prevent a duplicate. If you need to correct already-filed accounts, see How to Amend Companies House Accounts.
