Why Is the CT600 and Accounts Option Greyed Out?
TinyTax checks Companies House records when you select a filing period. If accounts have already been filed with Companies House for that period — even through another service such as your accountant's software or Companies House WebFiling — TinyTax disables the "CT600 and Accounts" and "Accounts only" options to prevent duplicate filings.
Why This Happens
When you select a period on the filing form, TinyTax looks up your company's filing history at Companies House. If accounts are on record for that period, the form automatically restricts your options:
| Situation | Options available |
|---|---|
| Accounts already filed at Companies House | CT600 only |
| No accounts on record for the period | CT600 only, Accounts only, CT600 and Accounts |
| LLP | Accounts only |
| CIC | CT600 only |
What to Do
Accounts were filed elsewhere for this period
Select CT600 only and proceed. TinyTax will still include a copy of your accounts in the HMRC submission automatically — this is a requirement of the HMRC CT600 submission format. You are not missing anything by selecting CT600 only.
You want to file accounts for a period that has no accounts yet
Make sure you are selecting the correct (most recent) period. Older periods where your previous accountant or WebFiling service already filed accounts will only allow CT600 only. If you switch to the latest period where accounts have not been filed yet, the CT600 and Accounts option will be available.
You need to correct or replace accounts already at Companies House
If you need to update accounts that were already filed, you can submit amended accounts. See our guide: How to Amend Companies House Accounts.
Common Questions
Why does TinyTax know my accounts were already filed?
TinyTax connects to the Companies House API when you load the filing form. It reads your company's public filing history to check which periods have accounts on record. This happens automatically — you do not need to tell TinyTax that you filed elsewhere.
I want to file accounts through TinyTax instead of my old accountant — can I?
Yes, for future periods. For periods where accounts are already at Companies House, you would need to file amended accounts rather than a fresh set. For new accounting periods with no accounts yet, TinyTax can file both your CT600 and accounts in one go.
