Is TinyTax Authorised by HMRC?
TinyTax submits CT600 returns and Companies House accounts directly through official government APIs. If you've searched HMRC's published software provider lists and haven't seen TinyTax listed, this guide explains why your filings will still be accepted.
Is TinyTax Authorised to Submit CT600 Returns to HMRC?
Yes. TinyTax is registered with HMRC as an authorised software provider and submits CT600 returns through the official HMRC Government Gateway API (Transaction Engine). Every submission includes a registered vendor identifier that identifies TinyTax to HMRC's systems.
When you submit through TinyTax, HMRC receives your return, processes it, and sends back an acceptance reference — exactly as it would from any other recognised filing software.
Why Doesn't TinyTax Appear on HMRC's Public Approved List?
HMRC publishes a list of commercial software providers on GOV.UK, but this list is not exhaustive. Not every authorised software provider is listed publicly, and the list is updated infrequently. The definitive test of whether software is authorised to submit is whether HMRC accepts its submissions — and TinyTax submissions are accepted.
What About Companies House?
TinyTax submits accounts to Companies House using the official Companies House filing API. Submissions are accepted and appear on the public Companies House register within 24–48 hours.
How to Verify After Filing
After submitting through TinyTax, you can independently verify acceptance:
- HMRC CT600: Your dashboard shows "Accepted by HMRC" with a document reference number. You can also check your HMRC Business Tax Account (though it may take 3–5 working days to update).
- Companies House accounts: Search your company at find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk — your accounts will appear in the filing history once accepted.
Common Questions
Q: Will HMRC reject my return because it came from TinyTax? A: No. HMRC does not reject returns based on which software was used. As long as the return is complete and correctly formatted, it is accepted. TinyTax has submitted thousands of accepted CT600 returns to HMRC.
Q: Does the software name appear on my CT600? A: Yes — returns submitted electronically include the software name. This has no effect on how HMRC processes your return.
Q: I need to demonstrate to a client that TinyTax is HMRC-approved. What should I show them? A: The best evidence is an accepted filing. You can also refer to the HMRC guidance on software-only filing (from 31 March 2026), which lists TinyTax among the recognised options for CT600 filing.
